A clear handover doc before leave is expected. Setting boundaries (緊急時だけ) is acceptable and increasingly normal.
Formality level
Polite with humble 休暇をいただく. Use this form when referring to your own leave.
Common mistake
Don't leave without a written summary. "It's in my head" is not an acceptable handover.
