As the social implementation of AI advances, ethical debates over performance are intensifying. What are we handing over in exchange for greater convenience? Without facing this question head-on, sound technological development is impossible.

In development settings, the idea of "ethics by design" — building ethical considerations in from the review stage — is spreading. It is a shift in thinking: embedding value judgments in the design philosophy itself rather than responding after problems occur.

Of course, the criticism that talking about ethics shackles innovation persists. Yet history offers almost no example of a technology spreading after losing society's trust. Trust is precisely the precondition for technology to be accepted by society.

Each engineer having the power to imagine the social impact of their own work — is that not the core of the professionalism demanded in the coming era? We live in an age when a single line of code can sway someone's life.
