As the social implementation of AI advances, ethical debates over the new feature are intensifying. What are we handing over in exchange for greater convenience? Leaving the answer to a handful of specialists alone is surely no longer permissible. Without facing this question head-on, sound technological development is impossible.

kaihatsu no genba de wa, rebyuu no dankai kara rinritekina hairyo o kumikomu "eshikkusu bai dezain" no kangaekata ga hirogaritsutsu aru. mondai ga okite kara taisho suru no de wa naku, sekkei shisou sonomono ni kachi handan o umekomu to iu hassou no tenkan de aru. tadashi, tesuto no koutei de tenken suru dake de wa, kono tenkan ni wa todokanai to iu shiteki mo aru.

In development settings, the idea of "ethics by design" — building ethical considerations in from the review stage — is spreading. It is a shift in thinking: embedding value judgments in the design philosophy itself rather than responding after problems occur. That said, some point out that merely inspecting at the testing stage does not achieve this shift.

mottomo, rinri o kataru koto ga gijutsu kakushin no ashikase ni naru to iu hihan mo nezuyoi. kaihatsu no hiyou o oshiageru dake da, to no koe mo katsute wa kikareta. daga, shakai no shinrai o ushinatta gijutsu ga fukyuu shita rei wa, rekishijou hotondo sonzai shinai. hantai ni, shinrai o eta gijutsu ga kyuusoku ni fukyuu shita rei wa kazuooku nokosarete iru. shinrai koso ga, gijutsu ga shakai ni ukeirerareru tame no zentei jouken na no de aru.

Of course, the criticism that talking about ethics shackles innovation persists. The complaint that it merely pushes up development costs was also once heard. Yet history offers almost no example of a technology spreading after losing society's trust. Conversely, examples of technologies that won trust and spread rapidly are numerous. Trust is precisely the precondition for technology to be accepted by society.

Each engineer having the power to imagine the social impact of their own work — is that not the core of the professionalism demanded in the coming era? The ability to keep learning the latest technology is of course indispensable, but it alone is not enough. Once, a single line of code was something that stayed inside the company. We live in an age when a single line of code can sway someone's life.
