近年、多くの企業が新機能への対応を迫られている。当社の開発部でも、昨年から本格的な取り組みを開始した。導入に先立って、まず現状の課題を洗い出した。その結果、レビューのプロセスに多くの無駄があることが明らかになった。改善を進めるにつれて、部門間の連携が強化され、作業時間は以前の半分近くまで短縮された。一方で、新しい仕組みに慣れるまでの教育コストという課題も残っている。変化を恐れていては、競争に勝ち抜くことはできない。新機能はゴールではなく、継続的な改善の出発点であると考えるべきだろう。

障害対応の振り返り

Incident Postmortem: the new feature

月曜日の午後、本番環境で大規模な障害が発生した。原因は新機能に関する設定ミスであり、サービスは約二時間にわたって停止した。障害発生直後、担当チームは直ちに対応を開始した。まず影響範囲を特定した上で、設定を以前の状態に復元し、サービスを復旧させた。振り返りの会議では、個人を責めることなく、仕組みの問題として原因を分析した。レビューの工程が形だけになっていたこと、テスト環境と本番環境の差異が大きかったことが指摘された。失敗を隠すのではなく、組織の学びに変える。この文化こそが、システムの信頼性を支える基盤であると改めて感じた。
